It's All About Your Mindset: Intertwining Your Faith with Everyday Life

It's all about your mindset. We live about 20 minutes from our church on a good traffic day. We're not near any main roads, and the street lights are far apart. On Tuesday night, coming home from bible study, the car started driving differently. At first, it wasn't so bad, but then it progressively got worse. Thankfully, I wasn't alone and was able to tell my husband something was wrong with the car. Initially, he didn't feel it, but I suggested it was one of the front tires. Soon afterward, he agreed with me. Even with my husband with me, I didn't want to walk home and leave my car. First, the street is curvy, the sidewalks run out at a certain point, and if I see snakes during the day when cutting the grass, I don't want to imagine what I couldn't see in the dark. I said, Lord, please let us make it home. We had about 5-6 more minutes, so I kept driving. As I pulled into our driveway, I was relieved and thanked the Lord.

I went into the house, we talked about a plan, I took my shower, and went to bed. We decided to deal with it in the morning. My husband was scheduled to leave on a trip in the morning, so the timing for this wasn’t ideal. However, by the time I woke up in the morning, my husband had put the donut on the car. I called the tire store, and they had the tires in stock. We dropped the car off and went to have breakfast. I dropped him off at the airport, returned home, and the car was ready in about an hour and 1/2.

In my younger years, stress would have overtaken me, and I would have tossed and turned all night and been exhausted the next day. I am so thankful for the Lord that provides:

  • I wasn't alone.

  • We made it home safely.

  • I slept all night.

  • The tires were in stock.

  • My husband was able to leave and enjoy his trip.

  • We had the funds for two new tires.

I shared what happened with my daughter, and she asked if I was upset. I answered, no and mentioned all the above blessings and reminded her, "it's all about the mindset."

  • Allow the Lord to transform your mind. “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2 KJV

  • Be anxious for nothing. “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 KJV

  • Teach the next generation. "That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:" Psalms 78:6-7 KJV

By doing these things…over time, I’ve been learning how to incorporate Christ into every area of my life.

Below are two books that God has inspired me to write. "The Flip Side" and "Blinded By Sight: The Heart Matters" both available now.

So… what’s this book about?

“The Flip Side” depicts the possible feelings and emotions of lesser-known Biblical characters as they navigated their lives in the shadows of the more popular characters in the Bible. While the Bible gives us snippets of their stories, we are usually left in the dark about their true motives, desires, and thoughts concerning the situations they are in. However, one certainty is that despite how little we know about these characters, they were often the catalysts to pivotal moments in the main characters’ lives.

So… what’s this book about?

Join me on a journey of self-discovery. “Blinded by Sight - The Heart Matters” is a compilation of short biblical devotions. These stories are not conclusive. They are depictions of how God is revealing my heart to me.

My prayer is, Lord, make it real for me, show me your heart, show me my heart, and give me the wisdom to change what hinders my relationship with you. I am learning that my perception is my biggest obstacle it affects my mind, what I think, and how I process my experiences. What I have experienced in my mind is expressed through my feelings and these experiences dictate my choices either consciously or subconsciously.

This devotional will allow you to explore and evaluate your past and present situations that have hindered you from seeing the heart of the matter. Simply put, look at the heart – it does matter. Your future depends on it!

I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Psalms 34:4
