One morning at 6 a.m. prayer, I submitted a prayer request to God. I was tired, and I needed an answer. I had been frustrated about which direction to take with my two devotionals - The Flip Side and Blinded By Sight: The Heart Matters. So, I poured my heart out to the Lord. I sought him earnestly, listening and waiting for an answer.
After prayer, I attended a funeral. When the funeral was over, my husband and I went to get something to eat for dinner, so by now, I had put my prayer on the back burner. We went to two restaurants. The first had a lot of people waiting, only a few workers, and I didn't want to wait. The second restaurant was better but had a 30-minute wait. My husband walked to another restaurant next door, as I sat down to wait. While waiting, I scrolled through Facebook and saw a post stating Michigan had received 10-12 inches of snow. I shared the
post with the gentleman sitting next to me. After speaking, we discovered that we are from the same hometown. We grew up about a 3-minute drive from each other. When our spouses returned, we introduced them. I asked if it was okay for us to dine together. After discussing people in our hometown, we discovered we're not related, but our families have a distant connection. The conversation became interesting when our new friends revealed they were believers. He is a minister, and she's a gospel artist. My husband shared that I was a Christian devotional writer and that he's a deacon. Little did I know that God was answering my prayer from that morning. As we were leaving, the wife shared with me an event that was going on the following Saturday, that I may be interested in being a vendor at. She gave me all the information for the event. Since that dinner, I have not ceased to make connections and discover opportunities to advertise and sell my books. From that, I've been out vending and making connections. God is faithful! I asked for direction, and he provided clarity and guidance that night. While I had put my prayer on the back burner, God was answering it.
Know that God is faithful to answer your prayers. “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” John 15
Check that your motives are pure when asking God for something. “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” James 4:3
Have faith in the God that you’re praying to. “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” Mark 11:24
By doing these things…over time, I’ve been learning how to incorporate Christ into every area of my life.
Below are two books that God has inspired me to write. "The Flip Side" and "Blinded By Sight: The Heart Matters" both available now.
So… what’s this book about?
“The Flip Side” depicts the possible feelings and emotions of lesser-known Biblical characters as they navigated their lives in the shadows of the more popular characters in the Bible. While the Bible gives us snippets of their stories, we are usually left in the dark about their true motives, desires, and thoughts concerning the situations they are in. However, one certainty is that despite how little we know about these characters, they were often the catalysts to pivotal moments in the main characters’ lives.
So… what’s this book about?
Join me on a journey of self-discovery. “Blinded by Sight - The Heart Matters” is a compilation of short biblical devotions. These stories are not conclusive. They are depictions of how God is revealing my heart to me.
My prayer is, Lord, make it real for me, show me your heart, show me my heart, and give me the wisdom to change what hinders my relationship with you. I am learning that my perception is my biggest obstacle it affects my mind, what I think, and how I process my experiences. What I have experienced in my mind is expressed through my feelings and these experiences dictate my choices either consciously or subconsciously.
This devotional will allow you to explore and evaluate your past and present situations that have hindered you from seeing the heart of the matter. Simply put, look at the heart – it does matter. Your future depends on it!
I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Psalms 34:4
