This morning, I realized it was a little over two years ago (September 8, 2021) that I had written the first entry in my devotional, The Flip Side. The full devotional was published on January 15, 2022
I created my website for the book and I published my first blog post, Intertwining Faith With Everyday Life, on December 22, 2022. At this time, I also started creating pins on Pinterest daily.
A year later, January 11, 2023 my second devotional, Blinded By Sight: The Heart Matters, was published.
Wow, how time flies!
Since I started this journey things in my life have changed. I now spend most Saturdays vending, while I also work a 40-hour job during the week and I update and create content for my social media pages every day. I've also added a business class to this, along with my commitment to my local assembly. Not to mention family life.
It finally dawned on me that I have become so busy with the assignment that I'm neglecting my time with the assigner,
Although I attend 6 am Saturday prayer and pray with a friend on Thursday mornings, starting today, I'm recommitting to spending quality time with God during the week. I talk with Him throughout the day, but there’s nothing better than just sitting in His presence. I thank God for the fruit, but without Him, I can’t do anything. I realize I need to stay connected to the source. I love the fruit, but I love Him more. Scripture states, "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." John 15:5
Dear Lord, I love you. My prayer is that you help me find balance in spending time with you while also doing the things you would have for me to do.
Keep God at the forefront. “In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.” Proverbs 3:6 NLT
Start your day with prayer. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33
End your day with God. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105
By doing these things…over time, I’ve been learning how to incorporate Christ into every area of my life.
Below are two books that God has inspired me to write. "The Flip Side" and "Blinded By Sight: The Heart Matters" both available now.
So… what’s this book about?
“The Flip Side” depicts the possible feelings and emotions of lesser-known Biblical characters as they navigated their lives in the shadows of the more popular characters in the Bible. While the Bible gives us snippets of their stories, we are usually left in the dark about their true motives, desires, and thoughts concerning the situations they are in. However, one certainty is that despite how little we know about these characters, they were often the catalysts to pivotal moments in the main characters’ lives.
So… what’s this book about?
Join me on a journey of self-discovery. “Blinded by Sight - The Heart Matters” is a compilation of short biblical devotions. These stories are not conclusive. They are depictions of how God is revealing my heart to me.
My prayer is, Lord, make it real for me, show me your heart, show me my heart, and give me the wisdom to change what hinders my relationship with you. I am learning that my perception is my biggest obstacle it affects my mind, what I think, and how I process my experiences. What I have experienced in my mind is expressed through my feelings and these experiences dictate my choices either consciously or subconsciously.
This devotional will allow you to explore and evaluate your past and present situations that have hindered you from seeing the heart of the matter. Simply put, look at the heart – it does matter. Your future depends on it!
I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Psalms 34:4
